Clouds like gray flowers, bloom in the air
Trees are growing restless, they shake their silver hair
The sound of distant thunder echoes in your chest
The mercury is falling. There’s no time to rest.
You’re getting out the sand bags. Laying in supplies
Brewing pots of coffee and peering at the sky.
Whatcha gonna do when the sky breaks open?
Whatcha gonna do when the monsoon starts?
Run to high ground when I finally break open
You’re gonna drown from what’s inside my heart.
It’s been a long, dry season, but that’s about to change
I’m ready for the deluge, I’m aching for the rain
I’m a Tesla coil, the air around me arcs
We don’t have to touch to be shocked by the sparks
I’m done with holding back. Drought’s about to end
The size of this storm I don’t think you comprehend
One drop hits the sidewalk – but one is just the start
I can’t stop this monsoon when it gets outside my heart.
Whatcha gonna do...
